Projects
Emergent Generation was co-created with a diverse steering group of young people from across the food system in 2022.
We create and deliver events on and offline where participants:
-
Make new connections; with each other, within the sector and across generations
-
Enjoy fresh conversations and insight
-
Develop knowledge and skills
-
Get inspired / gain confidence
-
Engage with new volunteering, career & educational opportunities
-
Contribute their won ideas
-
Turn passion into action for change
I led the GREAT New Entrants strand of work and successfully:
-
Mapped activity across the sector
-
Collaborated with other actors to fill gaps for new entrant provision (part of the steering group that identified the need for The Agroecology Learning Collective.
-
Organised knowledge sharing events and managed an opportunities board.
-
Piloted a programme of 1-1 support for New Entrants.
As part of my work at FarmED and with the GREAT Project I helped to develop a new programme around integrating new enterprises and people on farms.
We invited experts in the field to explore the various models that are being tried and tested across the UK and discussed how enterprise stacking, joint ventures, share farming and partnerships can benefit both the bottom line and new entrants, as well as creating thriving communities.
Developed a 3-day Study Tour for participants to learn more about agroecology and regenerative agriculture in the field. An opportunity for people to expand their networks and share knowledge with peers.
We visited visit farmer and agronomist, Ed Horton (Poulton Fields Farm, Cirencester), who is running a mixed hybrid farming system, removing artificial inputs and growing niche crops. As well as Sam Phillips (Macaroni Farm, Eastleach) for a walk and talk about their agroecological ventures in arable, organic livestock and pioneering mobile dairy and herbal ley system. These visits paved the way to two inspiring days at the Groundswell festival in Hertfordshire.
Integrated Local Delivery (ILD) is a proven approach to tackling climate change at a local level.
This film introduces the Integrated Local Delivery framework and the key role of the facilitator who brings together local stakeholders to scope risks and opportunities at a landscape level. Click on the image to watch the film.
I led the film production process and developed the script by working with ILD creators in order to deliver the message and process of ILD in 4 minutes.
The framework gives the facilitator the tools they need to connect locally relevant government, charitable, corporate and environmental organisations to work together in support.
Created a series of short films about seasonal jobs to support a new innovative app service ‘Seasonaljobs.io’ which aimed to match job seekers automatically to seasonal jobs and permanent job opportunities.
